How can I be sure I’m booking the best wedding photographer for my needs?
Always ask to see a complete wedding. Many photographers may only want to show you a few carefully selected images of their “best” images.
It is fairly simple to shoot a few good images at a wedding. A good wedding photographer should make each and every image a solid image that they are proud to show. That’s what sets the great photographers apart – an entire wedding with excellent images. We’re happy to show you entire portfolios of Norfolk and Virginia Beach weddings as well as the destination weddings we’ve photographed.
Of course, hiring a photographer that you actually like on a personal level will make your wedding day a stress-free experience. The best way to determine if your photographer will be a good match is to meet the photographers at their studio.
You want your photographers to “get” who you are and what you want. At Hayne Photographers, we encourage all of our prospective couples to schedule an engagement session where you can see us work, spend some time with us and ensure our images meet your wedding expectations.

How far in advance should I book my wedding photography?
Since wedding photographers book only one event per day their dates fill up quickly. We limit the amount of weddings we book per year as well. Once we reach that limit, we must turn away potential weddings.
Many wedding vendors like florists, cake artists or limousines can book numerous events on the same day, but once a photographer books that day it is marked off the calendar. We would encourage you to book your photographer once you have settled on the date and reserved the venue.
Most of our brides book us 8-12 months in advance of their wedding date. Contact us today to schedule a meeting and view entire wedding portfolios.

Do all wedding packages include an assistant?
All of the weddings we photograph include an assistant. Some of our weddings include a second assistant as well.
During the consult we can determine your needs and recommend the appropriate coverage. Our assistants have all shot hundreds of weddings under the training of Scott and are keenly aware of the high expectations we and our clients demand both professionally and artistically.
What should I expect to pay for my wedding photography?
We offer a variety of wedding photography pricing to meet the needs of all types of clients. Click on the image below to view our wedding pricing and information guide.

When do I get the proofs from my wedding?
The proofs for your wedding will be available 6 weeks after your wedding.
Big Bonus: many of your images are going to be shown during your reception on a slideshow on our iMac. You will already know before you even leave the wedding that you have great images that you and your guests will be excited about.
We post several of our favorite images one week after your wedding on our blog and Facebook page to share with your family and friends abroad. When your images are released they are displayed in a password protected online gallery that everyone can enjoy in the comfort of their home.
I have a large family. How do I make sure my wedding photographer get everyone photographed?
We recommend that brides schedule time for formal wedding photos before the ceremony and a few after the ceremony. This will allow us to capture and document the rare moment where all your family is together.
By having multiple photographers at your wedding, you can be sure that one of us will be around for your special moments. At Hayne Photographers, we have the ability to split up and cover multiple locations so a moment is never missed no matter what.
What kind of photo equipment do you bring to a wedding?
Having the right equipment makes a world of difference when it comes to the demands of today’s wedding photographer.
At Hayne Photographers, each wedding photographer carries two cameras and two different lenses. This allows us to capture multiple perspectives from the same location by simply swapping cameras quickly.
We use Canon 5d MkIII cameras. This is Canon’s professional line. The technology of these cameras are well above what you will find at consumer stores. The lenses cover a broad range from the ultra-wide 15mm fisheye lens to the 200mm L-series telephoto lens.
All of our lenses are able to capture images in extremely low light conditions, which is essential for great wedding photography. Portable Canon flashes that we can carry with us or use as stationary light sources provide additional lighting.
We use the fastest UDMA CF memory cards to store your images. In addition, we have a portable hard drive to backup the images as the cards are filled up throughout the wedding day.
We bring an iMac computer for to backup images. The iMac also give us the ability to present a slideshow at your reception of images that we have photographed throughout the day.
Finally, we also bring support equipment including tripods, stands, reflectors and additional backup cameras. We are members of Canon Professional Services. This gives us access to the entire line of Canon lenses and equipment that can be reserved for your wedding date if additional equipment is needed. So, if you’re planning a Virginia Beach wedding, or a wedding in Aruba, you can be sure that we’ll have the right equipment!
How would you describe your wedding photography style?
Our wedding photography style is a blend of creative photo composition and a variety of mood lighting techniques that create images ranging from the dramatic to the ethereal.
Our lighting techniques are marked by a bold use of off-camera flash. We also use the cutting edge technology in our lighting technique which allows us to capture bold colors and panoramic landscapes as backdrops to our bride and groom.
Creative compositions make each and every wedding different. We treat each wedding as a unique opportunity to create amazing images that show the wedding couple off in their own unique way. You can be sure that your images will be cherished for years and will bring back memories for generations.

Besides wedding day photos, what other types of bridal wedding photography do you do?
With a full studio we can provide our brides with on-location or in-studio bridal photography sessions.
On location shoots can be anywhere of your choosing. Studio shoots take advantage of our 2000 sq.ft. studio filled with props, vintage furniture, creative backdrops and beautiful lighting. Studio sessions are usually one hour long and are a great time for brides to try out their make-up, hair, and dress prior to their wedding day.
Images can be printed and framed in sizes up to 40×60 for display at the reception.
Brides can also book our trash the dress sessions where they can jump in the Chesapeake Bay, roll around in the sand or just be free to put their dress on again, sometimes years later, and go have fun!
Aftershoots are available for the former groom (now husband) and bride (now wife). These photo sessions are adventurous. The shoot includes integrating fun locations and slightly daring poses that are not practical for the wedding day.
