Mary & Turner Aftershoot Norfolk | Couples Photography

Mary and Turner returned for a late afternoon shoot at the Japanese Gardens in downtown Norfolk with us and it was great to get to know them a bit more after we shot their wedding a few weeks ago.  Aftershoots are a ton of fun and they have even been called “therapeutic” since it is a separate shoot from their wedding day where the bride & groom can let their hair down so-to-speak.  Away from the hustle & bustle of the wedding day our Aftershoots offer our couples a refreshing time where we can do some more creative shooting without the risk of getting the gown a bit dirty on the wedding day!  In Mary & Turners case her dress from Maya Couture made it through just fine but some of our bride & grooms end up in the water or rolling around in the beach…..you name it!  Mary’s make-up was terrific thanks to the talents of Kim Wadsworth and we even did some studio shooting to show that off.  So, if you want a do-over for your wedding day, or in Mary & Turner’s case just an evening out together for a few stress-free shots in your wedding attire – contact us and we’ll set up your own Aftershoot just for you!

Mary & Turner

Come with us as we walk you through the most amazing wedding day of Mary & Turner!  The Virginia Beach Resort & Conference Center was dressed to the “T’s” and Mary’s dress from Maya Couture looked rather stunning on the beach as the sun set over the Chesapeake Bay. The Virginia Beach Resort & Conference Center was transformed into an elegant party with the lightshow put on by Blue Steel Lighting and music from Arch Entertainment.  Behind the scenes Weddings by Michelle kept everything going like clockwork and the make up by Kim Wadsworth looked fresh all night long.  From the flowers by Daevid’s of Norfolk to the delicious cake by Patti Cakes I must say it was a little bit of heaven on the east coast.  It couldn’t have been for a batter couple – Mary & Turner congrats!

The Water Table Virginia Beach – Doug & Crystal | Wedding Photography

A day at the Botanical Gardens topped off by an evening at the Water Table was on tap for Doug & Crystal’s wedding day.  We had the honor of photographing their wedding and working with some of the finest wedding vendors in the business.  Weddings by Michelle had the entire day going like clockwork and the Water Table was looking amazing thanks to the flowers by Isha Foss and the lighting by the always stunning Blue Steel Pro Lighting.  The makeup by Rebecca Wood looked fresh all day and night.  DJ Rodney Charles from Arch Entertainment kept the party grooving and of course Carolina Cupcakery whipped up a batch of delicious cupcakes for everyone. While the Botanical Gardens offered serenity during the picture perfect day the evening down by the water at Rudee Inlet offered a one of a kind experience by the water for Doug & Crystals family & guests.  The night ended with a beautiful evening cruise as the wedding couple left the dock via boat and cruised the peaceful waters of the Atlantic Ocean.  We had such a wonderful time interacting with the guests in our photobooth and we look forward to hearing amazing things from Doug & C rystal!  Here’s a few shots from the eventful day:

Wedding Williamsburg Two Rivers Country Club – Fitz & Nicole | Wedding Photography

Join us on a fairytale wedding day of Fitz and Nicole. Quite possibly the most amazing people I have ever met. Yup. That’s all I’m going to say. Just go with me on this. They had a picture perfect day and I got to take some pretty nifty wedding shots at the Two Rivers Country Club in Williamsburg. Doesn’t get much better than that I would say. I mean, they had a glee club singing as they came down the aisle. ’nuff said….a glee club. Top that one. Well actually the sun and clouds did with and amazing display of light rays between white puffy clouds. Okay, so the sun was cooler than the glee club. But it’s the sun after all.  Here’s Fitz & Nicole – Congrats guys!

Wedding Slideshow Town Point Club – Tonya & Corey | Wedding Photography

Just a sneak peek into Tonya & Corey’s amazing wedding day at the Town Point Club in downtown Norfolk. We dodged a few raindrops but the party roared on through the rain & wind. It was a joy to hang out with them and get a few really cool shots! Check out the slideshow and you’ll see what I am talking about….

Wedding Town Point Club Norfolk – Tonya & Corey | Hayne Photographers

Tonya & Corey rolled out the red carpet for their wedding day complete with Bentleys, a live band, a bridal suite overlooking the Atlantic and a dress to die for!  We were thrilled to be invited to photograph their wedding day.  We have never seen the Town Point Club dressed to the “T’s” like it was for their reception – simply breath taking thanks to the team at Graceful Designs.  A brief downpour didn’t put a damper on their day as the wedding guests overlooked Waterside as the wind and rain swept by to reveal a starlit evening.  We wish Tonya & Corey the best as they kick-off the crazy world of marriage!

Hotel Roanoke Wedding Sarah & Aaron | Hayne Photographers Wedding Photography

A road trip to Roanoke was in order for Sarah & Aaron’s wedding at the Hotel Roanoke. The Hotel Roanoke was just oozing with history and nostalgia. We had such an awesome time as we met Sarah & Aaron’s family and even met up with our past bride & groom, Kate & Allen. The clouds were ominous as the ceremony approached so we had to move inside but even that did not dampen the excitement that was electric throughout the day! Hotel Roanoke has never looked better from top to bottom thanks to Corsair events. See for yourselves –

Wedding Signature at West Neck – Jeff & Jordan | Wedding Photography

Jeff & Jordan put their swagger on a few weeks ago and hit a hole in one with their wedding at The Signature at West Neck.  It was one of those weddings where the breeze blew just enough to make Jordan’s veil gently wave but not enough to blow out their unity candles.  There was just enough clouds to make the sky gorgeous but not enough to make it look gloomy.  The birds tweeted just enough to sound pretty but not loud enough to be obnoxious.  The temperature was just warm enough to make us cozy but not enough to make us sweat.  Get the picture?  It was one of “those” days.  In fact we made this nifty slideshow so you could also bask in the “just-rightness” of Jeff & Jordan’s wedding day.  Enjoy!

Westin Virginia Beach Wedding – Jamie & Jennifer | Wedding Photography

Jamie & Jennifer were married just a few short weeks ago and the world is perfect now. You just thought your the world was complete…now it is for sure. We had a blast as we photographed them all day around Town Center in Virginia Beach and inside the Westin. The Westin Looked amazing thanks to Blue Steel Lighting and Weddings by Michelle made sure that the whole day went off like clock work. It was a joy to work with this team and I hope it shows through the photography! Congratulations J&J!

Wedding Virginia Beach – Bruce & Laura | Destination Wedding Photographer

We joined Bruce and Laura on their wedding day and the day could not have been more magnificent!  We arrived at Haygood United Methodist where Laura was busy with her hair and make-up and Bruce was doing the groom thing – cutting up with the guys. We saw the dress on the hanger and it looked great without Laura in it we couldn’t wait to see her in it!  We were not disappointed – All the Rage hit a home run again with this one!  Turpins dropped off the flowers as guests began to arrive.  With a few moments before the ceremony we were able to spend a few minutes with Laura for a few shots before she was hustled away to her awaiting Dad.  The ceremony went off without a hitch and after a few shots with the family and the NEW hot couple we were off to the quaint little chapel then to  One Fish Two Fish for the reception.  Johnny with Astro DJ’s had the tunes playing as they walked in and the staff at One Fish Two Fish threw down some serious chow and the party started!  Dancing, singing, and much laughter ensued (especially when Bruce took to the floor!)   We stepped out for a moment at sunset as the sun dropped below the horizon lighting up the sky with an orange glow while the Lynnhaven river lapped gently against the pier.  That’s prime picture taking time I’d say!  Overall,  the day was awesome with dash of magnificent thrown in – yup, that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it…..  Here’s proof –

Hotel Roanoke Wedding – Sarah & Aaron

Something very special happened in June at the historic Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke Virginia.  It was a day of celebration, a wedding celebration, for Sarah & Aaron.   To start the magnificent plan in motion Posh Event Firm began to bring the amazing wedding day fairy tale vision to life.  With the flowers from Corsair Floral, linens from BBJ Linen, make up by the one and only Kate (one of our brides!) from Onyx Premiere Hair Studio and an amazing wedding cake from Wildflour Bakery it helped make the wedding day a dream come true.  The wedding ceremony went off without a hitch and the sounds of Grooveline set the tone for the evening while the cool voice of Alan Dever (one of our grooms married to the one and only Kate!) entered everyone in.  Here are just a few pics from Sarah & Aaron’s magical wedding day.

The Signature at West Neck Wedding – Jordan & Jeff!

Jordan and Jeff chose a spectacular day in Virginia Beach for their wedding. The birds started chirping right on cue and the clouds parted just as guests arrived for their outdoor wedding overlooking the pristine Signature Golf Course. Daevid’s Bridal Floral added their touches to the reception as well as the ceremony site. The wedding gown from Pure English Bridal had a hint of vintage to it complete with a birdcage veil…my fave! Another cake from Patti Cakes made the room smelling delicious and looked just as tasty! Arch Entertainment and Blue Steel Lighting combined to provide an atmosphere under the stars that was simply amazing. I must say it was just about perfect! Here’s a few pics for your viewing pleasure….

Westin Virginia Beach Wedding – Jennifer & Jamie!

We spent the day with Jennifer & Jamie on a very special day. The team at Weddings by Michelle kept the party going all day like clockwork while Blue Steel Lighting had the Westin Hotel looking rather amazing. Jennifer looked stunning as Faces by Rebecca Wood worked her magic on all the girls. We can always tell when Emily Patti of Patti Cakes is around – I can smell the cake I am taking a picture of! Nice treat…. Of course Daevid brought his “A” game with some stunning flower arrangements and bouquets. Typical of Jamie and Jennifer they were consummate hosts treating their guests to a night full of dancing, music, food, and even a photobooth! We had the joy of photographing this awesome couple…it was tough picking my favs but here’s a few:
