Creating a Modeling Portfolio When we have models or aspiring models that book a portfolio session with us, it is our job to create gorgeous images. Gorgeous images will help our clients book modeling jobs. Whether the model is just updating their portfolio or creating a new portfolio, we create a lot of images to choose from. When photographing a modeling portfolio it is important for us to photograph head shots, half body, three quarter body and full body shots. For most of our models, they are selling their entire body from head to toe. That makes it important to show the pose variations in the photographs. We use state of the art photography equipment and photography lighting, which creates stunning portraits. For Felicia’s modeling portfolio we decided to photograph her on a white sweep. When we photograph on a white sweep there are no distracting, or competing, elements or colors in the background. This will draw the eye to the subject. For a modeling portfolio, that is where the eye should be. Felicia brought a few different outfits. This is always good for a modeling portfolio. You want a variety of clothing and color. That will not only give you many options, but also many different looks to choose from. When forming a modeling portfolio you want a variety of images that highlight different looks and assets. This way the client will be more diversely marketable to many different modeling campaigns. Felicia is currently with Wright Models and Actors. Senior portraits are a big part of our portfolio. When we are photographing our seniors we are always striving for something different and unique. With Emily we were able to achieve that. We photographed her with vintage planes, at the beach, at sunset, in the studio and in downtown. Her shots that we have as an urban ballerina are some very unique photographs. Meet Ally, one of our 2013 Senior Model Team. Being a part of The Senior Experience’s gives you quite the experience for amazing senior portraits. We love being able to capture who our high school seniors are through their senior portraits. With Ally, she is a hip hop dancer. Instead of doing the traditional dance poses, we took a trip to the downtown area where we did some urban hip hop portraits. Shooting them in an environmental portrait fashion helped bring who she is to life. Every year we pick a hand full of uprising high school seniors to represent our studio for their senior portraits. It’s always a real honor to be published, but to be published in a national magazine like Shutterbug, is a REAL honor. We have had many opportunities to share our story, business tips and images with the world for many styles of our photography, but this time Shutterbug Magazine focused on Senior Portraits. The title of the article “High School Senior Photography…Four Top Photographers Share Tales of the Craft” was a article that partnered us with other leading senior photographers in the industry. It is a blessing just to be named with the rest of these in the article. No Rules Workshop – Norfolk Photography Workshop
So we spilled the beans at our latest workshop as we met some real neat folks and dished out some serious knowledge. Palm Springs, California, Riviera Hotel – Dustin & Missy’s Couples Shoot!
We winged our way out west to the spectacular Riviera Resort in Palm Springs, California for a shoot and it turned out to be just what my jet lag needed! A fun and somewhat “experimental” shoot using a variety of lighting techniques including, video lights, ambient, off-camera flash, ringlight, and reflectors…that about covers it all.
