Star Wars Wedding

star_wars_wedding

Star Wars Wedding Sometimes as a wedding photographer you get to photograph a wedding outside the box. How about a Star Wars wedding? How about a Star Wars Wedding on the release date of the movie? It would also take place in a movie theater at the stroke of midnight. This would also be a night that immediately following the wedding ceremony, the wedding guests would partake in the viewing of The Force Awakens. That is the story line for Michelle and Chuck’s wedding day. Here is one image that sums it up. I’d say it was quite epic! Looking for a wedding photographer? Contact us today! Wedding Photography for a Thematic Wedding As a wedding photographer, we are always prepared for almost anything. When we were hired by Michelle and Chuck to photograph their thematic wedding we weren’t exactly sure what type of images we would capture. We knew we would face serious restrictions because their wedding would take place at a movie theater. When you are photographing in a public place there are many restrictions that can apply. Many times we are working with the management with the venue. In this case, we went a step further and had to work with the local police force. If it were not for the help of the local officers we would not have been able to capture the outdoor wedding shots. We want to give a BIG shout out to the security team that was present. We knew some of the details of the wedding prior to our arrival. We knew that we would we photographing in the theater and hopefully outside the theater. We knew that there would be no natural light since the wedding ceremony was at midnight. We knew that the bride and groom would be dressed as Princess Leia and Han Solo. We also knew that the wedding guests would be dressed in costume. To prepare for the evening we wanted to think through some iconic Star Wars posing. We also knew that we would need various sources of photographic lighting to accomplish our creative goals. We were also prepared to have a thematic background with photographic lighting to capture the wedding guests. With all that in mind we prepared for a night of fun that would not disappoint. San Francisco Engagement Session | Sara & Rich

San Francisco Engagement Session Are you recently engagement and looking for a photographer for your San Francisco engagement pictures? Contact us today for more details. Want to see more of our engagement photos? Engagement Sessions Ah…who doesn’t love a beautiful engagement session. For us, there is nothing more beautiful then photographing two people in love. We had a great time with Sara and Rich on their engagement photo shoot. We were lucky that those chose us to photograph both their engagement session and their wedding. Both their engagement session and wedding were in San Francisco. We had never met Sara and Rich until our plane landed and we met up at Baker Beach. Baker Beach is such a gorgeous place to photograph. The setting couldn’t be more gorgeous. On a clear or nearly clear day there is a spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge. What could be more iconic to San Francisco then that? We learned about the Baker Beach Golden Gate Bridge perspective while shooting a maternity session there last year. You can view that here. The big contrast between these two photo sessions on Baker Beach was the fog. For Sara and Rich we had a “Chamber of Commerce” type of day, or in other words, perfect. For our maternity session, it was a typical San Francisco foggy day, however, still beautiful in it’s own right. We have such amazing clients. Not only do we only have gorgeous clients, but they are willing to do anything for a great engagement picture! At moments on their session the air became quite breezy and brisk. There were no complaints from the stunningly dressed Sara in her gorgeous dress. Then there was also the hiking up the weather worn, out of level, rocks we trekked to capture the crashing of the San Francisco Bay. Still no complaints from Sara and Rich.   Outdoor Engagement Photos We love our outdoor engagement sessions. We love photographing beautiful people in beautiful locations. Scott comes from a landscape photography background. Now that you know that, looking at his images, I think that it will be an ah ha moment for you. We often incorporate the landscape into our images. It gives the viewer a since of where they were, and also the subject, or client, can recall many details that may have been missed during the photo shoot. These things may be how green the grass was, the rustling in the branches or the waves crashing on the shore. Sometimes it’s difficult for the subject to remember all of that. When we shoot with this perspective, it brings back all those wonderful details of the area where their photo shoot took place. If you are a photographer and you see some poses that you like, you may be interested in our Couples Posing Guide. Sara and Rich were great subjects and posed well on their own, however, it is great to always have a reference when you need one! Here are some more of our favorite engagement session photos. Destination Wedding – Ashley and Chris Got Married Are you looking for a destination wedding photographer? We would love to talk to you. Contact us today!  Indiana Wedding Photography As a wedding photographer, we love photographing in different locations. For most photographers this may be a challenge but for us, we thrive on it. We love the idea of being in a location that is unique to us. Indiana was one of those places. What seems so common for Indiana natives, is unique to others. Barns, prairies and cornfields really got us excited about Chris and Ashley’s wedding photography. Bride Getting Ready Photos We cherish the time that we get to spend photographing a bride getting ready. When we have mom involved in the process we love it even more. The time spent with a mom and daughter on a wedding day is valuable. Being chosen to be the wedding photographer is priceless. First Look Wedding Pictures Who doesn’t love a first look? Well, I can tell you as a wedding photographer we love it. We find that if a bride and groom decide to do a first look we get real emotion. The wedding day is a buzz and a first look seems to calm the soul. We find that during a first look a bride and groom get to really enjoy their time together, cherish each other and take a deep breath. While we are photographing the first look we stay rather stealthy so that we don’t interfere with the emotion. We position the groom facing away from where the bride will enter. We always choose an area where the groom will hear the bride approaching. The bride then will give the groom a little tap and when he turns around, the magic happens. We then are able to capture some private portraits of the bride a groom. Here are just a few of our favorites from the wedding. When you look at these stunning wedding pictures you may think to yourself, “Who couldn’t have a stunning wedding at those two venues?”. If you are thinking that, you would be wrong. A gorgeous flawless wedding like Theresa’s and Victor’s only comes under the direction of an excellent wedding planner. Ted Martinez of Ted Martinez Event Management was the key. Theresa and Victor gave Ted their perfect wedding vision and Ted and his team made it a reality. He not only made it a reality, he went over and beyond. The day started at the Norfolk Marriott. The hotel room was a buzz with the excitement of the wedding day. There we found the bridesmaids, the bride, the parents of the brides and some very special vendors. Sarah Rillon was a very busy make up artist creating flawless makeup and Pin Up Doll Hair Design was working her magic on the bridal party. The video team from Light Works Films was also capturing all the excitement on film. In the picture above you will see all the beautiful wedding details. With the unique wedding invitation being created by Kat Blu Studios, Day of Stationery created by Paper Stylist. They set the tone for the elegant wedding day. It was so much fun!   Bride and Groom | Bridal Party Portraits After the wedding ceremony we headed out to the beautiful gardens of downtown Norfolk. The bride and groom arrived in style in a gorgeous vintage Rolls Royce from Royal Coach Limousine. (click on an image to enlarge)   Chrysler Museum Wedding Reception Once we arrived at the Chrysler Museum of Art it was obviously that this wedding reception was going to be the pinnacle of the day. For a bride and groom the wedding day can become a blur so that is why it is so important to have great wedding photography to capture all the details of the day. Theresa and Victor’s wedding reception was full of amazing details. We love when our wedding day is surrounded by vendors that are truly the A-Team. Blue Steel Lighting set the tone for the entire reception. They made the ambiance of the room stunning. With the Florals and Designs by Ivie Joy Flowers & Events they made the room breathtaking. That was not where it stopped. The catering was by Cuisine and Company, the talented Jamestown Quartet, the gorgeous cake by Shockley’s Sweet Shoppe and caricature drawings by talented caricature artists for the guests. As the wedding reception processed, we were entertained by the sounds of the A-Town A-List. I have to tell you, hands down, one of the best bands I have ever heard. Now, here are some of the amazing wedding reception details.   If you are looking for Virginia wedding photographer, we would love to talk to you. Wedding Day Photo Slideshow Melissa and Seth’s Chrysler Museum Wedding When you are looking around for a stunning venue for your Virginia wedding photography, you want to visit the Chrysler Museum of Art. It is simply stunning. It recently has gone through a total renovation and is simply breathtaking. As you can see from the night photo above, it doesn’t matter if it is day or night, it is still beautiful. Located in downtown Norfolk and nestled by the Hague River you will observe a stunning art museum that doubles as a breathtaking venue in the evening.   Traditional Jewish Wedding Ceremony When I think about Melissa and Seth, they make me smile. They seem like the perfect match. I love the way that they seem to balance each other. We had the absolute joy of being their wedding photographer. While we photographed their wedding I loved observing their love for each other. Melissa is fun and spontaneous, while Seth is well planned and somewhat calculated. Having these two types of personalities in a marriage is perfect because they complete each other. Here is an example in photos of their personality. Prior to their main wedding ceremony we photographed their private traditional Jewish ceremony. At this point in the ceremony the Rabi said something like this. “It’s tradition for the groom to remove the veil from the bride to ensure that he is indeed marrying the correct woman.”. This was a funny moment at their Ketubah ceremony as Melissa said, “Surprise! It’s me!”. Who couldn’t love these two and simply enjoy being their wedding photographer? Wedding Day Pictures Here are a few more of our favorite wedding day photos.   To see more from Melissa and Seth’s wedding, check out their previous blog post. The newly remodeled Chrysler Museum of Art is simply stunning. To add to the interest of Katie and Josh’s wedding day, there was a very special traveling piece of art of display in the Hague River. It was the traveling duck designed by Florentijn Hofman. Katie really wasn’t upset with the duck, we just thought we would create some fun wedding pictures with it. Since the duck it about 40′ tall, embracing it really wasn’t an option.   Wedding Day Photography If you missed their first blog post, you may want to read more about Katie and Josh’s wedding day. Chrysler Museum Wedding Photographer – – Melissa and Seth’s Jewish Wedding

Bride and Groom Night Photo

Chrysler Museum Wedding Photographer Are you getting married and looking for your wedding photographer? Contact us today for more details.   Melissa and Seth’s Jewish Wedding It was a beautiful weekend when we photographed Melissa and Seth’s wedding. It was a Sunday wedding and was the perfect way to finish out the weekend. As a wedding photographer we are always excited about what traditions will be celebrated. To be a well rounded wedding photographer, you must be familiar with all traditions. Whether it’s a Protestant wedding, a Jewish wedding, an Indian wedding, a Greek Orthodox wedding, it makes no difference to us. We are very familiar with all of them and the traditions that we will be photographing. For Melissa and Seth, it was a beautiful Jewish wedding. Their wedding was complete with a custom, beautiful Ketubah, a gorgeous Chuppah and breaking the glass. They had it all, and then some. Not only was the weather perfect for a wedding, the location was equally as great. They were married at the newly remodeled Chrysler Museum of Art. If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Chrysler in a while you will love what they have done! We love to work with amazing couples and their families. We also love working with amazing vendors. The wedding day was under the direction of Antonia Christianson Events. As a wedding photographer we love working with great coordinators. They make our day flawless. Many other great vendors were in attendance helping the wedding go off with out a hitch. Fluttering Flowers, Cake Delights, Cuisine and Company, Stage Right Lighting, The Boardwalk Photobooth Company, Kristal Lane Beauty and the band, In Full. Melissa’s gown was from Wedding Atelier. We just loved her wedding gown with the beautiful bolero. (click on image to enlarge)   Wedding Preparation Photography For a wedding photographer, we feel it is important to have creative wedding photos. That is true for every phases of a wedding day. When we are taking photos during preparation, we are always looking for different angles and composition. When you add these elements it creates interest in your wedding photos. If you are a photographer and are stumped on creative composition, our wedding day guide may help. Groom Getting Ready (click on image to enlarge) Should I Have a First Look? Why a first look, you may ask.  As a wedding photographer, we have photographed hundreds of weddings. When one of our bride and groom’s have a “first look”, we find these results. 1. The bride and groom feel complete once they see each other. The wedding day, no matter how prepared you are, you are going to have butterflies. We find that when our bride and groom chose a first look, those butterflies are diminished immediately! 2. It’s the best that a bride is going to look on her wedding day! Dress perfect…check, make up perfect…check, and hair perfect….check, check. 3. It gives a bride and groom some down time to really enjoy each other on a hectic wedding day.   How Do We Photograph a First Look? 1. We find a beautiful location that is undisturbed by people, so it is truly a private meeting. 2. We have the groom facing away so that the bride can approach from behind. This allows a great opportunity for great photos. The expression on a groom’s face as he hears his loved one approaching is amazing. Here is a video that has a real first look at the Chrysler Museum. 3. We always respect the bride and groom’s privacy. 4. Real Emotion. Often it is hard for a groom to let down his guard in a ceremony where he is surrounded by all the guests. Men don’t often like to let down their guard in a group, but in private, it’s different. 5. During a first look we will have two of us photographing. One will be focusing on the bride’s reactions and one focused on the groom. This helps tells the whole story. 6. We capture a few other great photos during that time. After the first look has happened, we get to spend a little extra time capturing additional great pictures.   Melissa and Seth’s First Look I think that you will agree, Melissa can not take a bad photo. She is simply stunning! Bride and Groom (click on image to enlarge)    Jewish Wedding Ceremony Photos Melissa and Seth’s wedding ceremony took place in the stunning Mary’s Garden. Here are a few of our favorite wedding ceremony pictures. Bride’s Procession into Ceremony with Parent’s Well Wishes Prayer Shawl The Marriage Ring If you’d like to learn more about Jewish Wedding traditions, here is one article.   Creative Bridal Party Pictures When you are a wedding photographer you are always trying to be creative when it come to the bridal party photos. At Melissa and Seth’s wedding, we hardly had to think. These crazy masks have a sentimental meaning behind them. If you see Melissa and Seth, you will have to ask them the story! Running from the Rubber Duck This monstrous size is 10x11x13 meters. Though I am not good at converting metrics, trust my it’s huge! This traveling sculpture by Florentijn Hofman has and is literally traveling the world. Though Melissa and Seth were not super excited about it being on location at their wedding, we still had fun with it!   We would love to be your wedding photographer! Chrysler Museum Wedding Are you getting married at the Chrysler Museum? Are you looking for a wedding photographer? Contact us today for more information.     Katie and Josh Meet Katie and Josh. We were so honored that they chose us to be their wedding photographer. My running joke is that we only photographed beautiful people. You can see why that statement is true. Katie was breathtaking in her gorgeous wedding gown from Ava Laurenne Bride. Josh, well, he wasn’t so bad either. He was very handsome in his wedding attire. The wedding day was amazing partly because it was under the direction of Carolyn at Signature Weddings. The floral design was by the one and only Daevids.Their cake artist was Incredible Edibles Bakery. There were many other amazing vendors that made their wedding day dreams come true. Some of them were Stage Right Lighting, Make Up by Kim Porter, The Boardwalk Photobooth Company and Cuisine and Company. Beautiful Bride (click on image to enlarge) The Wedding Ceremony Wedding ceremony’s at the Chrysler Museum are always beautiful to photograph. The museum is beautiful and the addition of the orchid wall adds an amazing background to any celebration. (click on image to enlarge) The Invasion of the Duck Well, in case you haven’t heard, there was an invasion of a duck…a large rubber duck. The Chrysler Museum hosted the Rubber Duck sculpture during the busy Memorial Day weekend. This duck was designed by Florentjin Hofman. It is traveling art that is literally seeing the world. It has been in Holland, France, Brazil, Australia, China and Azerbaijan. It has been a very busy duck! Though Katie was not excited about the duck, she embraced him in the end. Private Pictures with the Bride and Groom I can tell you right now, that this is my favorite photo time of the entire wedding day. Yes, we love to cover the ceremony. Yes, we love to photograph the reception, however, there is not a more precious time then our time spent with the bride and groom. We love to create beautiful portraits of their once in a lifetime event. (click on image to enlarge) Wedding Reception Photography A wedding reception is an exciting time. It is the time that as a guest you get to let your guard down. With Katie and Josh they chose a stunning decor for their reception. Stage Right Lighting set the mood.
