Senior Portraits We are senior portrait photographers and we love creating a variety of styles of senior pictures. We think that senior portraits should be fun, unique and have a balance of style. In our senior photo sessions we love to bring a little bit of all styles. We blend traditional portraits with more modern portraiture. We are able to change the style of our photography by changing our lenses, lighting and locations. In a normal senior portrait session we will photograph one to two hours. If our high school seniors opt for a one hour photo session we generally will stay close to our studio. With our photography studio being located in the historic area of downtown Norfolk we are able to incorporate texture, parks and an urban feel to our backgrounds. In a two hour senior portrait photo shoot, we generally incorporate an additional location. Most of the time seniors want to be photographed at the beach. Sometimes our high school seniors want to do a Trash the Dress Session. (click on image to enlarge) Trash the Dress Photo Sessions Trash the dress sessions started for brides that wanted to do fun portraits in their wedding gowns. This has been a huge movement because Trash the Dress sessions are so much fun. I believe that the fun comes from doing something in a beautiful gown that you are not suppose to. Some examples would be, getting in the ocean in your gown, or maybe running through the alleyways of downtown. When we photograph Trash the Dress sessions, we are able to create one of a kind portraits. We have had so much fun photographing Trash the Dress sessions with our brides that we decided that we would offer Trash the Dress sessions with our high school seniors! It has been a blast! (click on YouTube link on the bottom right of slideshow to view a better resolution) Nick – Maury High School – Senior Pictures Meet Nick. He came to us for his Norfolk senior pictures. He is one of our Class of 2015 Senior Models for our studio. We chose Nick because we felt like he would photograph well. We also thought he would be a great representative for our studio. Our goal for our senior models is to provide the great senior photos. Also that they will share the photos with everyone. We also want them to share their experience about their photo shoot. We began Nick’s senior photo session at the studio. We always try to capture a variety of images in the studio before heading out to photograph on location. Here are a few of our favorite studio pictures. We had so many favorite photos of Nick it was hard to choose which ones to post. On Location Senior Portraits We always like to include an on location photography segment with our clients. We live in such a beautiful area that we enjoy using a variety of backdrops. With Nick we stayed in the downtown area of Norfolk for his senior pictures. He attends the Governor School of Arts in Norfolk focusing in film. He loves creating short films and wanted to incorporate his video camera in a few pictures. Urban Senior Pictures We spent quite a bit of time photographing Nick downtown. Here are a few more cool senior photos that we captured. Norfolk Senior Pictures at the Park Our last stop for Nick’s photo shoot was the park. We love having different colors and backgrounds in our portraits. The park is usually a great place to find an array of that. Here are some of our favorite senior photos of Nick at the park. I will tell you that some of my personal favorite photos are the ones with him and his dog. We love incorporating pet photography into our photo shoots. Cool Senior Picture Alex’s Senior Picture Slideshow (click on the youtube link at the bottom of the slideshow for a high quality) Meet Alex Alex is an uprising senior. He didn’t want cheesy senior pictures. He was looking for cool ones. We pride ourselves on capturing cool senior photos. We know the guys are looking for something much better the the normal senior photos. We can provide that. Casual Senior Pictures We photographed Alex’s casual senior pictures in the studio and on location. Between our studio backgrounds and the outdoor shooting locations right at our studio, we can get a variety of photos in a short period of time. Soccer and Ultimate Frisbee Senior Pictures We took Alex out to a field to capture some epic soccer and Frisbee pictures. With the right background and the right lighting, you can create some one of a kind photos. If you are a photographer and need help with your lighting, we can help. We love to do a series of posed and action sports photos. When we do this it gives our families a variety of images to choose from. Rachael’s Senior Experience Slideshow (click on the youtube link at the bottom of the slideshow to view a higher quality) Meet Rachael Rachel is a senior at Norfolk Christian. We have had the awesome opportunity to photograph her older sister and her family. I just love how I keep writing these posts and refer to photographing other members in their family. It is our goal as a photographer to be a client’s photographer for life. We want to be there to capture every person at every milestone. From newborn portraits to weddings, we love really getting to know our families. (click on image to enlarge) Hobby and Interests Senior Pictures When a senior comes to us for their senior portraits we try to advise them on what to bring. We encourage them to bring in props that represent their hobbies and interests. For Rachael, her big interest is movies. Her favorite network on tv is the Hallmark channel. It is easy for Rachael to get swept away for a day or weekend watching movies. We are always looking for creative ways to incorporate a seniors interests. Rachael brought in her dvds and we did the rest. Formal Senior Portraits Many of our seniors like to bring in a formal to be photographed in. Most of the time it will be a recent ring dance, homecoming or prom dress. For Rachael we decided to photograph her in her formal gown in the studio and on location. Isn’t she stunning? (click on image to enlarge) Casual Senior Portraits We hit the road with Rachel. We covered a lot of locations. It always makes our photos more interesting if you have multiple outfits in multiple locations. We traveled to photograph in a historic area, urban area, park, rural area, and more. (click on image to enlarge) Beach Portraits After a long senior photo session there is a great location to make as your final stop. The beach is that special location. Even if you are exhausted, hot, hungry or anything else, all your worries are washed away once you dip your feet in the sand. Grassfield High School Senior Meet Max. He is an awesome Grassfield High School Senior. We were so excited to photograph his Norfolk senior pictures. We love the downtown area of Norfolk and so does Max. It was a perfect fit for his senior photos. He is the younger brother of one of our past seniors. We have also photographed the family’s portraits. We love when we see our clients over and over again. We love to be their photographer for life. We love to capture all of their footsteps along the way. We simply have the best job in the world! Senior Pictures When we photograph a senior portrait session, we always have the senior bring their sports or hobby props. We like to photograph our seniors in their “element”. Max is involved in DECA. If you don’t know what DECA is, check it out here. He has won multiple awards this past year and I think that is evident in these pictures. Sports Photography Pet Photography We love to be able to photograph our high school seniors with their pets. I must say that usually we photograph them with their dog, but in Max’s case, meet his precious cat, Thomas O’Malley. Urban Senior Portraits We headed out with Max to find some cool alleyways. They are plentiful when your are photographing downtown. We love the alleyways because of the grunge and texture. When taking pictures the right texture and background make a spectacular photo. Epic Senior Pictures We are always searching for awesome backgrounds. I think you will agree that we have found one! I love all the color and texture in this epic mural. High School Senior Portraits | Anna
You might think by looking at these photos that Anna is a model. No, she a Virginia Beach high school senior. We had the privilege of photographing her senior portraits in our downtown Norfolk studio. We also did several shots in our outdoor area. Contact us today to schedule your senior portraits. Anna’s Senior Pictures Lighting can be a photographer’s best friend or worst nightmare. Knowing how to use natural light to your advantage is key to capturing amazing senior photos. The dramatic effect of the light behind Anna in this outdoor shot really evokes the mood we wanted to set. The use of the ring-light in our studio creates an ethereal effect in portraits that’s just stunning. Anna’s portrait glows; her eyes pierce in this photo. The Urban backdrop is another element we wanted to highlight in Anna’s senior portraits. Use of textural backgrounds, whether indoors or out, help us accomplish this. Like many seniors, Anna was a bit nervous about her photo session. But, we prepare our students with helpful hints on what to wear and bring to make the photo shoot a breeze.
