What is the Senior Experience Ambassador Program?
In the winter, every year, Hayne Photographers studio chooses Norfolk and Virginia Beach high school students in their junior year to represent our studio as ambassadors. These students participate in two amazing senior portraits photo shoots. As ambassadors, they share their experience and photos with their friends.

How to I participate in the Senior Experience Ambassador Program?
Senior Experience Models are considered by the schools that the students attend and by their involvement in their school and community. Since these senior models will be the spokespersons for Hayne Photographers studio during their senior year in high school, we choose outgoing and involved students.
Of course, we’re delighted to create incredible senior portraits for all students. But, there is an application process and deadlines to consider for those who participate in “The Senior Experience”.
In the application, we ask questions regarding the student’s specific involvement in his or her school and community. There are also questions about hobbies, sports, likes and interests. If the application meets our criteria, then it is followed by a group interview and consultation with the potential model and parents. These meetings take place in February.
What’s the Senior Experience Photo Shoot Like?
Once our senior model team is selected we start with an exciting photo shoot in March. Each model will have 2 separate photo shoots. The first shoot consists of a composite shot and head shot session.
Senior Portraits: Digital Composite Photo Shoot
You may be asking yourself, “What is a composite photo shoot?” This is a photo shoot where we photograph each model individually on a green screen and then digitally place the models into a background through Photoshop. It creates an epic image named, “Class of 2015 Senior Model Team”, for example. The digital composite is used for marketing and in our social media platforms.
During this photo shoot, each model will also have a headshot session creating amazing images to be used on referral cards. A referral card is a card that each model will distribute to friends and family giving them a discount on a future photography sessions.
Each model then has a second photo session in the late spring. It consists of a personalized and stylized senior portraits designed around the personality and interests of each model. They experience a 3-hour adventure to awesome locations with elements that will help us to create unique images for each of the senior models.

How Do Students Prepare for a Photo Shoot?
Preparing for your photo shoot as a model is no different than and senior student preparing for one of our senior portraits sessions. We always advise seniors to focus on having complete outfits, head to toe. Always remember that accessories are as important as the shirt that you choose.
Laying out your complete outfits and taking a quick photo of them will help you remember all the pieces for your complete outfit. On the day of your photo shoot it is important to have all of your clothes organized and on hangers. Having your clothes pressed and organized is critical. Attaching a bag to each outfit is great way to keep your shoes, accessories and jewelry organized per outfit.
Props are a great way for us to define who each senior is in photographs. They are also an essential part of your photo shoot. We want each senior to bring props that help define who he or she is.
A prop might be a car, dance costume, sports uniform, or even books, if the student is an avid reader. We want to capture all of the student’s interests; the things in their lives that make them unique. If you are a soccer player, you need to make sure that you have your soccer ball, cleats, correct socks, pads, etc. Remember that complete outfits are a key to a successful photograph.
