Fallingwater Wedding – Frank Lloyd Wright Designed Home Sometimes you just get lucky and land a gorgeous Fallingwater Wedding. Meet Lindsey and Seth. Their story begins with a boy growing up with a girl, then taking separate paths. Eventually, after troubled relationships, the boy and girl reunite, marry, and begin their happily ever after. In addition, there are so many factors that can affect the photographic outcome. For example, where is the sun during certain hours of the day? When is sunset in the area that you are photographing? Beautiful Senior Portraits That Tell Your Story When we schedule a senior portrait session, we help each client feel prepared, confident, and excited. Senior photos mark an important milestone in a student’s life, so we want the experience to feel personal from start to finish. Before the camera comes out, we talk through locations, clothing, props, and meaningful details that reflect who the senior is. For Kenzi’s session, we already knew she loved reading, travel, photography, and the beach. As a result, we planned a session that blended her personality with portraits she and her family could treasure. To begin, we created a series of images that showcased Kenzi’s love of reading. Can you guess her favorite book of all time? In addition, this portrait highlights her love of books while adding a subtle nod to her interest in travel. Senior Portrait with Books Kenzi is creative, thoughtful, and full of personality, so she wanted a fun portrait with a deeper meaning. More importantly, she hoped to express the excitement of senior year along with the big decisions ahead. As a result, the clock concept helped show that childhood is passing quickly while a new chapter is about to begin. Running Out Of Time Creating a Polished Ring Light Look Next, we used a ring light to create a polished and dramatic look. Essentially, a ring light is exactly what it sounds like: a circular light source that produces soft, nearly shadowless light. In addition, when it is paired with movement from a fan, it can add energy, dimension, and a fashion-inspired feel to the images. If you look closely, you can even see the ring light reflected in Kenzi’s eyes. Ultimately, this simple lighting choice helped us create a clean, modern senior portrait style. Senior Portrait with Ring Light Planning a Beach Senior Photo Session The beach is one of the most requested locations for senior photo sessions, and Kenzi knew it needed to be part of hers. However, she also wanted to include a family hammock that had traveled with her family for years. Once she shared her idea of hanging the hammock under a pier, we knew the perfect location. Then, sunset gave us the warm, flattering light we wanted, and the beach setting added texture, movement, and a relaxed coastal feel. Before heading under the pier, we began photographing her along the walkway to the beach, creating images that felt natural and full of personality. Outdoor Senior Portrait After that, we moved closer to the pier for a new set of portraits with stronger lines and a more dramatic backdrop. Because the prop had family history, it added a personal touch that made the portraits feel even more connected to Kenzi’s story. Maternity Photo Choosing a Beautiful Outdoor Location for Maternity Portraits Alyssa came to the session with inspirational images, and we always do our best to meet or exceed each client’s vision. To begin, we searched for a peaceful outdoor backdrop that offered variety without requiring too much walking or posing time. Ultimately, the garden setting was ideal because it provided soft greenery, texture, and natural depth while keeping the experience comfortable for an expecting mother. In fact, small choices in composition can make the final images feel more dimensional and refined. In the gardens, for example, we achieved this by placing elements in both the foreground and background. As a result, these layers add beauty, dimension, and a sense of place while keeping the focus on the couple. Often, we shoot with a wide aperture so the subject stays sharp while the background becomes soft and creamy. In turn, this approach creates a romantic look, adds color and texture, and keeps attention on the most important part of the photograph: the people in front of the camera. Urban Ballerina Photography Session We love doing unique photography. That’s why we decided to do an urban ballerina photography session. Contact us today for more information on artistic photography. Urban Location We recently did a senior sessions with the girls in these images. Dance is a very important aspect of their life. We thought it would be fun to do an artistic shoot with them. We chose three different locations that each had their own unique look. A big part of getting great images is finding the perfect setting. Research the locations you want to use before each session. Our studio is very close to an urban downtown area. We are always finding new and creative spots there for our sessions. Outfit Pairings Each girl brought an outfit that complimented the textures of each setting. We love it when we can pair beautiful outfits with the location. Their outfits also added in each girls’ unique personal flair. For one portrait our dancer wore a beautiful white ballet outfit. It stood out against the dark industrial background (image above). For this portrait our dancer wore a bright red gown that complimented the faded brick wall. For this portrait we wanted to add in a stunning background. The church was a perfect paring for the dancers outfit. It was exactly what we wanted for our artistic shoot. In this portrait our ballerina wore a tutu that gave a lighthearted feel to the overall image. Some tips for getting great pictures like these is to use good lighting. We used off camera flash and a deflector to bounce lighting onto the dancers. It really helped to make the portraits pop. Contact us today for your session. Outdoor Photography Fun For the first portion of Tori’s photo session we wanted to do pictures outside in late afternoon. It is the best time for the great lighting and we were able to get more photographic images. The area we chose for her outdoor photos had some amazing cobblestone roads. We really wanted to incorporate them into her images. Since the roads provided a nice background we decided to use her car and an antique chair we had on hand as props. When doing professional photography you have to think on your toes when it comes to outdoor settings. There was also some great brickwork on the outside of the buildings that we thought would go wonderfully with our pictures. When you use texture in the background it adds interest to your photo shoot. Tori decided that she wanted to add in her own personal touch by blowing confetti for one shot. We always love it when clients add their own flair to their photo session! Gorgeous Indoor Studio Portraits After the outdoor portion of the session we decided to do some indoor head shots. Since the outdoor segment was fun we decided to do a more professional indoor head shot session to contrast it. Tori wanted serious but not too serious for her studio shots. We were able to do that by adding in an age appropriate background along with soft lighting. Half the battle of doing professional photographic pictures is making sure the lighting and background compliment whoever you’re shooting. We are very big in the school photography scene and were able to take her year book portrait during her session.
