We are in an area that is beautiful. The surrounding texture and color gives you such great opportunity to create stunning backgrounds in each of your photographs. MacKenzie is from Pennsylvania. She could not find a senior photographer that met the desire for unique senior portraits. Knowing that she was set on Virginia Beach senior portraits, she started looking online for a senior photographer. Our seniors want to be different and individual. MacKenzie knew that we would be able to provide those unique portraits for her. MacKenzie is a regular model for Seventeen Magazine. As a model she generally has a studio photography session. She decided she didn’t want to do any studio shooting since that is a normal event. She requested all outdoor senior portraits. When thinking about her session she had mentioned possibly photographing her on railroad tracks and she definitely wanted beach portraits. In thinking about her requests we knew that we would have no problem meeting them. MacKenzie understands how important professional make up is in photographs, so we schedule a make up artist to meet her at our studio prior to her session. Because of it’s importance in a finished picture, we always offer professional make up services. Having a large studio, and a dressing area, it provides the perfect space for professional hair and make up services. We first headed out to a field where we started our outdoor senior portrait session. We brought our vintage couch on location. Bringing a piece of furniture to a photo shoot adds interest to a photograph. It also gives us the opportunity for more posing ideas. Outdoor Senior Portraits Our next stop was the railroad tracks. One thing we learned early on was that if we were going to use railroad tracks in our outdoor senior portraits, they can not be live tracks. Discovering a good set of unused railroad tracks will help create Finally we photographed MacKenzie’s beach portraits. In these pictures we were able to incorporate a pier, jettys and the surf. Having all these background options allowed us to create some unique senior portraits. This custom bike is a great example of how to showcase your product to the world. Product Photography This custom bicycle came to our studio where we photographed a few shots indoors and out. We started with some full-length images to show the sweeping lines and cool paint job. Here’s a Product Photography tip: It is always important to let the viewers understand what you are photographing first before doing close-ups. Product Photography Location Shooting Our setting for our product photography shoot was an urban grunge scene that fit well with the bike’s looks. A studio set allows us to photograph products in controlled light. This is especially important when photographing the products texture and color. Detail Photos Product photography must always includes details of the product. The springs on the front forks and the cool treads on the tires are captured using close-up lenses. Details can be easily missed if the photographer does not examine the product closely for unique features. On Location Product Session Shooting outdoors fit this product well where it fits into the environment perfectly. Using reference items to allow the viewer to understand the size of the item is important. For this product photography shoot we used a pair of legs to accomplish this. A variety of lenses were used since the bike had details that were important but the overall look was equally important. A telephoto lens was perfect for the outdoor shots. A wide angle lens showed off the sweeping lines of the bike’s frame. A macro lens should be in the bag of every product photographer to get those details. Historic Hampton University Chapel Wedding
Historic Hampton University Chapel Wedding Beautiful wedding photos show depth of emotion by highlighting details that could easily be missed. This bridal portrait truly captures the beauty of bride Lauren, and her incredible choice of wedding locations. Lauren was a stunning bride. After photographing her bridal portraits at the Chamberlain Hotel three months prior to her wedding, we knew the wedding day would be amazing. And, it was! We have to applaud Tanya Frasier of Graceful Designs who coordinated the event. Lauren’s gown was from Pure English in Virginia Beach, Va and it looked spectacular in the photos. Lauren & Ian’s wedding ceremony took place at the historic Hampton University Chapel. The reception was at the Chamberlain Hotel. This hotel is also historic. It has now been converted from a pre 1900 officers quarters for Fort Monroe, to a hotel and upscale retirement community. This is really a thoughtful thing for brides to do and help preserve the memories of each person who attended the wedding! In spite of torrential rain during preparation and the ceremony, the photography went off without a hitch. Rain on the wedding day is considered good luck. In Lauren and Ian’s case, we certainly agree. When a bride books wedding photography with us, we often find that their friends come to us for their weddings too. Well that may sound shocking at first, but when you consider the images that will get from the session, you may reconsider. Trash the dress is a trend that is happening that gives brides an excuse to wear their wedding gowns for a second time. The result is amazing wedding photos. On a wedding day we can’t have a bride in urban settings in the ocean, however we can for this session. It is a new wedding style photography session that creates a contrasting image. An elegant bride in the city streets, abandoned buildings or in the water. This contrasting image is generally breathtaking and captures everyone’s eye. Mario and Meredith did their Trash the Dress session on their one year anniversary. Urban Trash the Dress Portraits Click on image to enlarge We started their portrait session in downtown. We wanted to incorporate the texture of the old brick and texture of our historic area. Having the lightrail in downtown, we decided to include it in a photograph. By using the technique of dragging the shutter we were able to create a unique picture. By using this technique we are able to blur the moving object while freezing the bride and groom in the frame. Beach Trash the Dress Pictures At sunset we headed to the beach to finish our session. We always shoot our beach portraits at sunset allowing us to have great light. We knew that this would definitely be the last stop for photos because Meredith wanted to get in the ocean in her wedding gown. Before getting in the water we like to utilize the other areas of the beach. Using the sand dunes and the jettys we get a variety of looks in a small area. For Morrision’s birthday portraits the family wanted a vintage feel to his session. We were able to use the sepia tones to give the finished portraits a vintage tone. There are only a couple of times in life when those sweet body rolls are cute. One is at a newborn session and the other is at a 1 year birthday photo session! Beach Portraits We then moved to beach to capture her in this beautiful costume. We began photographing her on the beach walkway. Using the walkway we were able to capture her in this beautiful soft pose. Then we moved to capture a few more images on the beach. Off Camera Lighting We ended her session using our off camera flash technique. This lighting technique allows us to exposure for the subject and the sky. By doing this we are able to capture color in the sky while properly lighting our subject.With a dancer we always like to do action shots because their form is so beautiful. Mia did not disappoint. She was at our studio for her 6 month portrait session. Noelle’s family loves to document their family through portraits. They purchased a baby plan with us. A baby plan documents your baby for the first year of their life. The first year of your child’s life there are so many changes that happen. What better way to document those changes then with beautiful photos. Meet sweet Noelle. Today she had a special blue and white dress for her special 6 month portraits. With babies we have to work quickly since their attention span is very short. We have have to have our sets prepared and ready to go when our clients walk in. We started photographing Noelle in the studio. We were able to capture some special portraits for this half year birthday girl. Having our studio is great when photographing children. For Noelle we did her newborn and three month portraits in our studio. For her 6 month portraits we wanted to mix it up a bit. The weather was beautiful so we were able to take Noelle to the outdoor areas of our studio. We were able to capture this precious photo of her in the grass. The last picture that we captured was with her mom and dad. Though Noelle couldn’t walk yet, we still wanted to try a walking picture. We love to create this type of photo at all of our 6 month old portrait session. It creates such a cute portrait. We pose the child between mom and dad. Though they can’t walk, with the support of mom and dad it appears she is walking. It is also great to end a portrait session with because the child thinks it’s fun! Happy half birthday Noelle! These images show the technique of incorporating props with the product photography.It is our job as a product photographer to help the viewer use their senses to experience the specific product. These bars of soap have a coffee fragrance. You can see how we added coffee grounds to the scene so that the viewer can imagine the smell of these beautiful bars of soap. Also, by using a macro lens we are able to show off the detail of the product. If you look closely you will see the coffee grounds embedded in the bar of soap. Can you smell this soap? Here is another photo that we incorporated the glass with the bar of soap. We wanted to viewer to understand the base for this bar of soap. A local brewery, O’Conner Brewing donates their ale to NOFO soap to make this special line of soap. Last we set up this Shaving Bar Soap. What better way to show off the product then with a Boston Terrier endorsing it. We ended our photo shoot with a quick head shot with the creator of NOFO Soaps.
