Once we have booked a band for a professional photo session we have a consultation. The consultation helps us understand who the band is and the look and feel they want to create. We need to understand the genre of music, the persona and the style of the band. We often start our consultation with the question, “What are you looking for in your band photography?”. We also instruct them to send us inspirational images. If a band does not have inspirational images, we ask them to send us images they don’t like. Though this sounds strange, it still helps us with a vision of what they like and don’t like. We then proceed on a setting. Will the band photo shoot take place indoors or outdoors. Do we need to rent a venue, or can we produce the look they want in our studio? What type of professional photographic lighting should we use to create the perfect band photo? Creating a Modeling Portfolio When we have models or aspiring models that book a portfolio session with us, it is our job to create gorgeous images. When photographing a modeling portfolio it is important for us to photograph head shots, half body, three quarter body and full body shots. For most of our models, they are selling their entire body from head to toe. That makes it important to show the pose variations in the photographs. We use state of the art photography equipment and photography lighting, which creates stunning portraits. For Felicia’s modeling portfolio we decided to photograph her on a white sweep. When we photograph on a white sweep there are no distracting, or competing, elements or colors in the background. This will draw the eye to the subject. For a modeling portfolio, that is where the eye should be. Felicia brought a few different outfits. This is always good for a modeling portfolio. You want a variety of clothing and color. Actor Headshot and Modeling Portfolio We are a actor and model headshot photographer. For Marquis, he was in need of both. He was headed to Orlando, Florida for a Disney Casting Call. He was not only being looked at by Disney but many other agents. That required a little of both, acting head shots and a modeling portfolio. When you go to a casting call, you get one shot to be in front of the decision makers. You want to make sure that you have great, professional acting head shots or a professional modeling portfolio, in your hand. The opportunity may be a once in a lifetime chance, so having the right professional photographer is key. Modeling and Acting Portfolio Photography Sessions When you schedule an modeling or acting portfolio session with us, we will ask a series of questions. The main question is who are these images for? What type of role are your auditioning for? Do you need to look younger, older, or your age? What companies will you be sending your portfolio to? All these questions are valid to ensure that we get the right results in our images. For Marquis, the acting portfolio was for Disney only. We needed to ensure that we had images that portrayed him looking like someone you might see on the Disney channel. Here are a few examples. Keeping Marquis looking young was a mixture of choosing the right clothing, the right photographic lighting, and having a cheerful appearance.
