Senior photography should capture who the high school senior is. Finding out in advance what your senior photography should include for a senior portrait session is important. We strive to reflect the senior’s interest and personality in each of their photographs.
Meet Bri. She is a beautiful high school senior that it studying to be a pastry chef. Thinking about these attributes we spoke with Bri and her family to instruct her on the items she may want to include in her senior photography. We knew that photographing her in her pastry chef uniform would fun and create some unique senior portraits.
Some key props that we included were flour, her uniform, cooking utensils and anything else that would help enhance her senior portraits.
We began photographing Bri in the studio in a casual outfit. With the accessories of a leather jacket and cowboy boots we knew exactly what to use for lighting and a background. Using the natural light area of our studio was perfect. Incorporating the vintage dresser added some nice interest to the scene.
Backlighting is a technique that we often use. This technique isolates your subject against a bright background that creates an etherial glow. Our senior high school clients love this high fashion, unique portrait.
A walk to the outside areas at our studio provided some great light for Bri’s senior photography.
By coordinator with Bri about her props we were able to create this unique senior portrait. Capturing bri’s passion of baking is what we strive for in our senior photography. In this photo we were able to do just that.
The final touch to her unique senior portrait session was adding our adorable Boston Terrier Hugo. Hugo thinks that it is his job to be in everyone’s portraits. The great thing is our clients welcome it.

Virginia Beach Senior Portraits
Outdoor senior portraits is one of our most favorite types of photography that we do. We are in an area that is beautiful. The surrounding texture and color gives you such great opportunity to create stunning backgrounds in each of your photographs.
MacKenzie is from Pennsylvania. She could not find a senior photographer that met the desire for unique senior portraits. Knowing that she was set on Virginia Beach senior portraits, she started looking online for a senior photographer.
Our seniors want to be different and individual. MacKenzie knew that we would be able to provide those unique portraits for her.
MacKenzie is a regular model for Seventeen Magazine. As a model she generally has a studio photography session. She decided she didn’t want to do any studio shooting since that is a normal event. She requested all outdoor senior portraits.
When thinking about her session she had mentioned possibly photographing her on railroad tracks and she definitely wanted beach portraits. In thinking about her requests we knew that we would have no problem meeting them.
MacKenzie understands how important professional make up is in photographs, so we schedule a make up artist to meet her at our studio prior to her session. Because of it’s importance in a finished picture, we always offer professional make up services.
Having a large studio, and a dressing area, it provides the perfect space for professional hair and make up services. Having those services available at the studio allows a client to make our studio a one stop shop.

We first headed out to a field where we started our outdoor senior portrait session. We brought our vintage couch on location. Bringing a piece of furniture to a photo shoot adds interest to a photograph. It also gives us the opportunity for more posing ideas.
Outdoor Senior Portraits
Our next stop was the railroad tracks. One thing we learned early on was that if we were going to use railroad tracks in our outdoor senior portraits, they can not be live tracks. Discovering a good set of unused railroad tracks will help create
Finally we photographed MacKenzie’s beach portraits. We always choose a portion of the beach that will have several background options. Being that she wanted Virginia Beach Senior Portraits taken, this location fit the bill!
In these pictures we were able to incorporate a pier, jettys and the surf. Having all these background options allowed us to create some unique senior portraits.

Choosing when to do your outdoor senior portraits at the beach is critical. We always choose to photograph our beach portraits at sunset. Photographing at sunset is best to capture the golden light.

Every craftsman deserves great product photography that shows off their work. Many hours go into producing a product that is worthy of selling. Without good unique product photography your buyers may no see it as you intended. This custom bike is a great example of how to showcase your product to the world.
This custom bicycle came to our studio where we photographed a few shots indoors and out. We started with some full-length images to show the sweeping lines and cool paint job. Here’s a Product Photography tip: It is always important to let the viewers understand what you are photographing first before doing close-ups.
Product Photography Location Shooting
Our setting for our product photography shoot was an urban grunge scene that fit well with the bike’s looks. A studio set allows us to photograph products in controlled light. This is especially important when photographing the products texture and color.
Product photography must always includes details of the product. The springs on the front forks and the cool treads on the tires are captured using close-up lenses. Details can be easily missed if the photographer does not examine the product closely for unique features.
On Location Product Session
Shooting outdoors fit this product well where it fits into the environment perfectly. Using reference items to allow the viewer to understand the size of the item is important. For this product photography shoot we used a pair of legs to accomplish this.
A variety of lenses were used since the bike had details that were important but the overall look was equally important. A telephoto lens was perfect for the outdoor shots. A wide angle lens showed off the sweeping lines of the bike’s frame. A macro lens should be in the bag of every product photographer to get those details.
Unique product photography is key to getting viewers to understand your product. You can see more of our product photography example here. If you have any questions or would like to reserve your date contact us today!

Historic Hampton University Chapel Wedding
Beautiful wedding photos show depth of emotion by highlighting details that could easily be missed. This bridal portrait truly captures the beauty of bride Lauren, and her incredible choice of wedding locations.
Lauren was a stunning bride. After photographing her bridal portraits at the Chamberlain Hotel three months prior to her wedding, we knew the wedding day would be amazing. And, it was! We have to applaud Tanya Frasier of Graceful Designs who coordinated the event. Lauren’s gown was from Pure English in Virginia Beach, Va and it looked spectacular in the photos.
Lauren & Ian’s wedding ceremony took place at the historic Hampton University Chapel. The reception was at the Chamberlain Hotel. This hotel is also historic. It has now been converted from a pre 1900 officers quarters for Fort Monroe, to a hotel and upscale retirement community.

Historic Chapel Wedding Photography
One special request this bride and groom had was to do table shots with all of their guests. This is really a thoughtful thing for brides to do and help preserve the memories of each person who attended the wedding!
In spite of torrential rain during preparation and the ceremony, the photography went off without a hitch. Rain on the wedding day is considered good luck. In Lauren and Ian’s case, we certainly agree.
When a bride books wedding photography with us, we often find that their friends come to us for their weddings too. Lauren’s cousin loved her photos and has booked a June wedding with us. We’re so excited to do another wedding for this lovely family!

Keisha and Scott got married! I can’t think of a more exciting time in life then a wedding. Keisha and Scott have been our clients for years. They actually found us through other clients. We love that we have clients that love us and share with others about us.
What an honor to be chosen to be Keisha and Scott’s wedding photographers. We knew it was going to be a spectacular day.
Brooch bouquets are stunning. They have become more popular this wedding season. This brooch bouquet was hand made for Keisha. Brooch bouquets are sparkly, glamorous and they are a keepsake after the wedding day. Brides seem to love these bouquets because they are easily customizable.

Ring Detail Shots
Detail shots are critically important at a wedding. Weddings today are full of intricate details that must be captured. One detail that we enjoy photographing are creative wedding ring photos.
Norfolk Skyline Photos
In the timeline planning for their wedding, they had a “must have” shot request. Keisha and Scott love the Norfolk skyline and wanted that in a photo. Photographing Norfolk from Portsmouth creates stunning wedding photos. We suggested to the bride and groom that we plan to photograph the skyline at just past sunset. By choosing that time, there would still be light in the sky and all the city lights would be on. That is a winning combination for a city photograph.

Senior Portraits – Meg
Meet Meg. We had the opportunity to photograph her senior pictures. Meg lives in Franklin. Though we are located a couple hours away, it was worth the drive. Meg is a country gal, but was looking for a different setting for her pictures.
Ring Light Photos
We photographed a series of images with Meg using our ring light. Our seniors love the effect of this cool lighting technique. The ring light gives the subject a shadowless look.
Meg just recently won a pageant and is a reigning beauty queen. Having such an important position, her family wanted to ensure that we captured her in her gown, sash and tiara.
We are Norfolk senior portrait photographers serving Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and the surrounding areas. We are also available for world wide travel.

Dramatic Wedding Photography Through Creative Composition
Creative camera angles enhance the drama of natural settings. The bride and groom are perfectly positioned against the green backdrop of the trees in this photo. This photo composition draws your eye toward our lovely subjects, yet exhibits the details of the sky, foliage, and landscape at the same time.
Jonathan & Katie Got Married!
At Hayne Photographers, we love using natural light in our photography. With filtered natural light, we can create softer lines, and subdued colors. And with brighter conditions we can create brilliant colored backdrops for our couples. Finding the perfectly lit location within the gardens is a matter of what type of mood we’d like the photo to express. A beautiful day for photos at the Botanical Gardens is one with great lighting! Sunshine with a few clouds gave us ample opportunities for a variety of lighting situations.

Military Family Portraits – Family Photographer
We love our military town and we love taking military portraits. Nothing makes us more proud then to photograph a service man or woman wearing the great uniform of the United States.
For military pictures we like to use our oversized American Flag as a background. Using this background with our studio lighting created a beautiful portrait.
We also took the children’s portraits. The kids loved having their pictures taken and daddy loves having beautiful pictures of the kids!

Trash the Dress
Who wants to trash their dress? Well that may sound shocking at first, but when you consider the images that will get from the session, you may reconsider.
Trash the dress is a trend that is happening that gives brides an excuse to wear their wedding gowns for a second time. The result is amazing wedding photos. On a wedding day we can’t have a bride in urban settings in the ocean, however we can for this session.
It is a new wedding style photography session that creates a contrasting image. An elegant bride in the city streets, abandoned buildings or in the water. This contrasting image is generally breathtaking and captures everyone’s eye.
Mario and Meredith did their Trash the Dress session on their one year anniversary.
Urban Trash the Dress Portraits

We started their portrait session in downtown. We wanted to incorporate the texture of the old brick and texture of our historic area.
Having the lightrail in downtown, we decided to include it in a photograph. By using the technique of dragging the shutter we were able to create a unique picture. By using this technique we are able to blur the moving object while freezing the bride and groom in the frame.
Beach Trash the Dress Pictures
At sunset we headed to the beach to finish our session. We always shoot our beach portraits at sunset allowing us to have great light. We knew that this would definitely be the last stop for photos because Meredith wanted to get in the ocean in her wedding gown.
Before getting in the water we like to utilize the other areas of the beach. Using the sand dunes and the jettys we get a variety of looks in a small area.

What a beautiful sunset we had. The colors in the sky were amazing. By using the off camera lighting technique, we are able to create dramatic portraits.
