Band Photography

Band Photography We love having band photography sessions. When you get to photograph a cool band like Rellen, it makes our job easy. Our main goal for the band photography session was to capture a composite of the band. The description of a composite image is a photo that is a combination of multiple images. These images are then merged together into one single image. We photograph the elements of a composite image on a green screen. Then the individual images are extracted from the background in Photoshop. In conclusion you then layer in multiple elements and filters to create a somewhat surreal image. This was the single image that was the result of their session. Contact us today for more information on a photography services. How to Prepare for Your Band Photography Session When we are preparing to photograph a band, or any composite, a lot of preparation must happen. Bands have already developed their “style” and are artists. In general, artists, have a look that they already have achieved, or are trying to achieve. Communication is key when planning for a band photography session. We must find out the style or the look the band wants to be labeled with. Once that is established we have to rule out what they don’t want. Next we have to agree on a theme for the image. Finally we have to create a background image. The background image will determine the posing that must be captured to create the final image. Photography lighting and your camera angle must match the background perspective. Before we photograph a composite image, we draw several sketches. This gives us options for posing. When the band arrives we will try a variety of poses, but only poses that will work in the composite that we are creating. This helps us think through what can truly work in a final image. Learn more about compositing here. What Type of Client Uses Composite Images We have a number of clients that are now choosing composite images. Bands, solo artists, families and some of our corporate clients now are wanting more from their photography. Some of our corporate clients are wanting to stand out in a crowded market. When we can create a unique composite image, it will help them do that. Companies that want to portray themselves in different setting is now possible through composite images. Families that want their images to be more unique then the “Jones”, it is a perfect option. Learn more photography tips here. Are you looking for a photographer to create a unique composite image? Star Wars Wedding

star_wars_wedding

Star Wars Wedding Sometimes as a wedding photographer you get to photograph a wedding outside the box. How about a Star Wars wedding? How about a Star Wars Wedding on the release date of the movie? It would also take place in a movie theater at the stroke of midnight. This would also be a night that immediately following the wedding ceremony, the wedding guests would partake in the viewing of The Force Awakens. That is the story line for Michelle and Chuck’s wedding day. Here is one image that sums it up. I’d say it was quite epic! Looking for a wedding photographer? Contact us today! Wedding Photography for a Thematic Wedding As a wedding photographer, we are always prepared for almost anything. When we were hired by Michelle and Chuck to photograph their thematic wedding we weren’t exactly sure what type of images we would capture. We knew we would face serious restrictions because their wedding would take place at a movie theater. When you are photographing in a public place there are many restrictions that can apply. Many times we are working with the management with the venue. In this case, we went a step further and had to work with the local police force. If it were not for the help of the local officers we would not have been able to capture the outdoor wedding shots. We want to give a BIG shout out to the security team that was present. We knew some of the details of the wedding prior to our arrival. We knew that we would we photographing in the theater and hopefully outside the theater. We knew that there would be no natural light since the wedding ceremony was at midnight. We knew that the bride and groom would be dressed as Princess Leia and Han Solo. We also knew that the wedding guests would be dressed in costume. To prepare for the evening we wanted to think through some iconic Star Wars posing. We also knew that we would need various sources of photographic lighting to accomplish our creative goals. We were also prepared to have a thematic background with photographic lighting to capture the wedding guests. With all that in mind we prepared for a night of fun that would not disappoint. Senior Portraits at the Beach

Senior-Portraits-at-the-Beach

Senior Portraits at the Beach Are you looking for unique senior portraits? Do you love the beach? Are you wanting to do something fun for your senior pictures? How about a Trash the Prom Dress session? How about senior portraits at the beach? Senior Portrait at Sunset Fun Senior Pictures High school seniors always want to be unique. They want to stand out in the crowd. They don’t want to look or be like anyone else. When it come to senior pictures, their feeling is the same. They are looking for unique senior pictures that will make them stand out in a crowd. They are looking for that senior photo that makes everyone say “WOW”. How about if you could have fun, real fun, on our senior portrait session? What if you could have a photography session that ended doing something truly unique? How about if you ended your photo  shoot with senior portraits at the beach? Not only senior portraits at the beach, but you partnered that with a Trash the Prom Dress session? You would not only have gorgeous senior pictures, your senior photos would stand out in the crowd! Who else has the opportunity to do something fun and different? When you get into the ocean in a gorgeous prom dress, have a gorgeous sunset and the senior photographer uses state of the art photographic lighting, you may end up with senior pictures that look like this! With the right senior portrait photographer, the right setting, the right client and the right photographic equipment, we are able to create unique, one of a kind, senior pictures. Trash the Prom Dress Photography When we take senior portraits at the beach we always schedule close to sunset. That way we are ensured the best light of the day. We are looking for soft golden light in our photos. This is generally captured 30-45 minutes prior to sunset during the summer months. As the sun is setting we love to incorporate off camera lighting. This creates a moodiness in your photos that can only be created by adding lighting. Here is an example of off camera lighting at sunset. When we use off camera lighting it allows to to photograph directly into the sun. When we use off camera lighting it allows us to expose both the sky and our subject properly. When you understand this photographic lighting technique you can create very unique photos. If you are interested in learning more about off camera lighting, you can read more here. Beautiful Senior Portraits We love the “golden hour” in photography. When we take senior portraits at the beach, the scheduling is critical. For our clients that want to end their senior portrait session at the beach we schedule the arrival 45 minutes before sunset. When you are photographing at the beach you have no protection from the glaring sun unless you have some cloud cover. If you photograph your clients in the direct sun, the sun will often create ugly shadows. Those ugly shadows are not attractive on your gorgeous clients. We make sure that we are photographing in the right conditions, with the right photography equipment, at the right time. When you combine those elements you will produce beautiful senior portraits. If you are a photographer and need help with posing tips for your senior portraits, we can help! If we have a senior photography client that wants to add a Trash the Prom Dress session, we recommend that they visit the thrift store to purchase a dress. You can often find and inexpensive dress that has already been used for this type of photo session. The dress doesn’t have to fit perfectly, in fact, we have been known to add clamps to a dress to make it work. We have honestly never had anyone that has completely trashed their prom dress to the point of ruin. Most of our clients just wash, dry and repeat wear the dress from their photo shoot! If you are looking for unique senior portraits at the beach, contact us today for more information! If you are ready to book now, reserve your appointment today!

(click on the image below to read more about our head shot sessions) Professional Head Shot Photography Hayne Photographers offers high quality professional head shots and business portraits to all types of business professionals, executives, actors, models and small businesses. Our services include both studio and on-location sessions for individuals as well as groups. Our photographers are well skilled and have years of experience. They use state of the art camera equipment and studio lighting. We have high standards for service and quality. We ensure that your finished images will  represent you and your company. We offer professional, commercial, consumer and corporate portraiture, as well as professional head shots photography and environmental portraits for businesses.  We offer professional head shot sessions to  actors, models, medical students and actresses. You can come to our studio in downtown Norfolk or we bring the studio to you. Getting Ready for Your Head Shot Session Before heading in to the studio think about all of the things that make up your personal brand and what you want others to take away from a glance at your profile page. Jot down some key words and phrases and bring them to your shoot. Think about what exemplifies your personal brand to you. Are you a chef? An educator? A writer? Are there props that could help tell your story? Bring them along! We can take a couple different shots—in different outfits—so you’ll have a series to choose from. You may want to tailor your profile picture based on the social media platform you’re using. Remember to have fun! A relaxed, comfortable subject naturally exudes confidence.   What to Wear to Your Head Shot Session It’s important that your look matches the image you’re trying to convey.  For your profession head shots, what you wear on a daily basis is a great place to start. Solid colors are always a good choice, as are tops with strong collars and necklines. Even though you’ll only be shot from the shoulders up, it’s important you’re pulled together from head to toe—you may want a shot or two that are pulled back a bit. Aim for clothes that complement your skin and eye tones. What to Wear: •    Wear clothes that are comfortable and that make you look great •    Make sure your jacket and shirt fit you well. A poor fitting jacket or shirt will be obvious in the photos (especially around the neck) •    Clothes should be neatly pressed and should look new or like new •    Avoid busy patterns and large lines/stripes What to Bring: •    Sample professional head shots to help communicate the look you want Environmental Business Portraits If you are looking for environmental portraits, we can take care of that for you. Environmental business portraits capture working professionals in their everyday work environment, whether it be an office or a workshop. These portraits are a natural and creative way to show viewers who you are, what you do, and where you do it. Green Screen Business Photography Are you unsure of the background you want or maybe you need a background that you can’t quite achieve in the office setting? We can shoot your corporate portraits or professional head shots with a green screen background and replace the background with anything you’d like. We do this on a per image charge basis. Our green screen photography techniques are professional, and convincing. While it’s always best to shoot in the real setting, this is the next best option, and many times, much more practical in an office setting.   Professional Headshots and Your Business Dubbed “the new handshake,” professional head shots are now the first introduction to you, your business and your personal brand—shouldn’t that intro be the best it can be? With 93% of HR professionals and recruiters tapping into LinkedIn to find quality candidates—plus 2 in 3 on Facebook and more than half utilizing Twitter—your professional head shots has countless applications in your professional life. Should your profile pic be the family vacation, the fun night out or—worse—the logo or abstract shot? Or should it be a powerful, compelling and confidence-building headshot that makes prospective clients, employers and partners want to click “Connect?” Contact us today to learn more about our professional head shots session and environmental portraits.

Her gorgeous party dress would set the tone for her Italian themed Bat Mitzvah celebration.   Skylar is the youngest child in the family. This is kind of sad for us because this would be the last Bat Mitzvah that we would photograph for her family. The fact that we photograph so many different types of shoots brings us hope. We will look forward to all the senior portraits and weddings to come from her family. Skylar’s family loves to bring their children to us prior to the Bat Mitzvah to do a portrait session. They love to be able to display gorgeous portraits at their grand celebration. Skylar’s party was no different. Modeling Portfolio Photographer Are you currently a model or interested in becoming a model? Are you looking for a modeling portfolio photographer? Contact us today for more information!  Creating a Modeling Portfolio When we have models or aspiring models that book a portfolio session with us, it is our job to create gorgeous images. Gorgeous images will help our clients book modeling jobs. Whether the model is just updating their portfolio or creating a new portfolio, we create a lot of images to choose from. When photographing a modeling portfolio it is important for us to photograph head shots, half body, three quarter body and full body shots. For most of our models, they are selling their entire body from head to toe. That makes it important to show the pose variations in the photographs. We use state of the art photography equipment and photography lighting, which creates stunning portraits. For Felicia’s modeling portfolio we decided to photograph her on a white sweep. When we photograph on a white sweep there are no distracting, or competing, elements or colors in the background. This will draw the eye to the subject. For a modeling portfolio, that is where the eye should be. Felicia brought a few different outfits. This is always good for a modeling portfolio. You want a variety of clothing and color. That will not only give you many options, but also many different looks to choose from. When forming a modeling portfolio you want a variety of images that highlight different looks and assets. This way the client will be more diversely marketable to many different modeling campaigns. Felicia is currently with Wright Models and Actors.  First Time Working with a Modeling Portfolio Photographer? We work with our models to help them create a great modeling portfolio. All hair and make up are generally at it’s best at the beginning of their session. We will then move on to a series of studio and outdoor photography. The ring light creates a very unique portrait. It is a steady light so basically when using it to photograph, what you see is what you get. It is a lighting technique that creates a shadowless portrait. It also creates a “ring” effect around the pupils, hence the name ring light. Here is a portrait using the ring light.   Are you ready to schedule your senior portraits? You can view more of our senior portfolio here. Yorktown Family Portraits | Reed Family

Family Portraits

Yorktown Family Portraits When was the last time your family took professional family portraits? Today is the perfect day to schedule your own photography session. Contact us today for more details. Yorktown Outdoor Family Portraits Yorktown has so many beautiful outdoor locations. It is a perfect backdrop for some gorgeous family portraits. Meet the Reed family. We were delighted to be able to photograph their family. They choose to schedule their family portrait session in Yorktown. They knew that it would lend itself to gorgeous photos. With their family, we choose 2 different locations for their outdoor photos. Both locations were within 5 minutes of each other so it made it convenient. It also provided the opportunity for a variety of photos and backgrounds. We started the family portrait session out at a historic mansion. The property has a gorgeous landscape lined with a white fence. On the property there are a few beautiful buildings. When you have a combination of a beautiful landscape and buildings, it creates a beautiful backdrop. When you have a beautiful backdrop for your portraits, you get beautiful portraits. As you look at their portraits you will see that there was much planning that went into their outfits. This is a great example of how to dress for family portraits. We always get asked what to wear for our family portraits. We have actually designed an online magazine that help our family’s decide on what to wear. You will see that all four people in the family coordinate beautifully without being in the exact same color. To us, this is more pleasing to the eye. They choose one of two colors to run throughout everyone’s outfit. On Location Family Portraits We finished up photographing family portraits at the historic mansion property and headed to our second location. There we found a completely different look, style and background for our portraits. In all of our photo sessions we like to present our clients with a variety of images. As you can see, we achieved our goal. Outdoor Family Portrait Isn’t it time to schedule your family portrait session? Contact us today!

When we are shooting on location we are looking for color, texture and lighting. Around our studio we have lots of color, many different textures, and the lighting is good all hours of the day. Here are a few images from Shane’s outdoor portrait session by our photography studio. Are you a photographer photographing senior guys and need help with posing? Check out our senior posing guide. Beach Senior Pictures No matter what time of the year, we are always photographing at the beach. Our beaches are a part of our lives. A lot of our clients want to incorporate the beach in their portrait session. When shooting an outdoor portrait session, choosing the right lighting is key to a great portrait. When we are photographing at the beach, choosing the right time of the day, to have the right light, is imperative. Sunset is always the best option to schedule a beach portrait session. (click on an image to enlarge) Off Camera Lighting Technique at Sunset Off camera lighting is a great technique to use during the sunset hours. Though we use this technique during all hours of the day or night, it really “shines” at sunset. This technique allows us to balance the ambient light and can produce moody and dramatic images. It can also create simple well balanced images. Here are a couple of examples of using off camera lighting at sunset. If you are interested in learning off camera flash, we have the tools to get you started. Family Portraits at the Beach For Shane’s senior portraits, we also included a couple of family portraits. We also did some photos of just he and his sister. It’s not too late to schedule your senior pictures! Contact us today for more information. Like this post? (click on image to enlarge) (click on image to enlarge) Wedding First Look Photos Who doesn’t love a wedding first look? The wedding day is so full of emotion with so much excitement that a first look is exactly what the doctor ordered. At all the first looks that we have photographed, there has never been a time that our bride and groom regretted seeing each other before the wedding ceremony. In fact, they are thankful. Once a bride and groom see each other for the first time on a wedding day it calms them. It is a time that they get to relax and just enjoy each other and all of the wedding day excitement, privately. Bride and Groom Photos After Sara and Rich had their first look, we went straight into their bride and groom photo time. We love when we have quality time with our bride and groom on their wedding day. We are able to capture some amazing images when there is a set time that they spend with us. As photographers we get really excited about a well planned wedding day timeline. Sara and Rich had just that. The wedding venue was so incredibly gorgeous that it did not lack picturesque areas for photos. The Bridges Golf Club has rolling hills, a beautiful landscape and breathtaking views. Put that all together with a gorgeous bride and groom and you have the perfect formula to awesome wedding photography. Wedding Ceremony and Wedding Reception Photography The weather in San Francisco had been a bit breezy. In fact it had been so windy there were some doubts that the wedding ceremony would be able to be held outside. We were thrilled when it was decided that the weather was going to cooperate. The wedding ceremony could go on as planned. A sunset wedding ceremony, overlooking the California landscape.
